Trekking: Monte Brasil

Set off on a scenic trekking experience across Monte Brasil - an extinct volcano located right next to the historic city of Angra do Heroísmo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This tour is perfect for those who want to combine physical activity with discovering unique landscapes and the island’s history.

The tour begins with a transfer from your hotel to Relvão Park, where the approximately 7.4 km route starts. The trail leads through diverse volcanic terrain, offering beautiful views and close contact with nature.

At the beginning, you will reach the Santo António Chapel, with panoramic views over the city and the bay. The route then continues to Pico do Facho, passing a crater covered with endemic vegetation, including Azorean heather, as well as the ruins of Forte da Quebrada.

The trail then leads to Pico das Cruzinhas, located within the Monte Brasil reserve. From here, you can admire views over Angra do Heroísmo, as well as see remains of World War II artillery and the monument marking the 500th anniversary of the settlement of Terceira Island.

At the end of the trek, you will return to Relvão Park, followed by a transfer back to your hotel.

The route is approximately 7.4 km long and suitable for participants with a moderate level of fitness.
