Program Description

Day 1: drive through "Roman" road connecting the island of Djerba with the mainland, in the direction of Medenine, where you can see the so-called ghorfas - former defensive granaries. Drive to Tataouine and visit the local market and then to Chenini, a Berber town. Lunch. Continue on a real off-road program in the direction of Ksar Ghilane. Dinner and overnight at Zmela camp site. Day 2: breakfast. Visit to Ksar Ghilane - the southernmost palm oasis with ruins of a fort from Roman times (additional fee for visiting the fort). Drive to Matmata and visit the traditional Berber house. Lunch. Then off-road through the mountain-desert regions of southern Tunisia. Return to Djerba by ferry.
