Program Description

Visit Akumal Monkey Sanctuary & Rescued Animals, a unique wildlife sanctuary dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and care of animals. This remarkable experience offers the opportunity to meet the sanctuary's residents while learning about the important work carried out to protect vulnerable species.

The sanctuary is home to around 200 animals representing approximately 55 species. Most of them arrived after losing their natural habitats due to pollution, deforestation or other environmental threats, making it impossible for them to return to the wild. Thanks to the dedicated care of the sanctuary's staff, these animals have found a safe and permanent home.

During your visit, you will learn the stories of the sanctuary's residents as experienced animal carers explain their daily routines, rehabilitation process and the importance of wildlife conservation. You will also have the opportunity to take part in feeding sessions and enjoy safe interactions with selected animals under the supervision of the sanctuary staff.
