Program Description
Step into the underwater world and immerse yourself in the diverse environments of the seas and oceans. Barcelona Aquarium is home to more than 80 tanks and around 11,000 animals representing 600 species. The exhibits feature both the Mediterranean Sea and tropical habitats, giving you the chance to see a wide variety of species living beneath the surface.
One of the main highlights is the Oceanarium with its 80-metre underwater tunnel. As you walk beneath the vast tank, sharks, rays, moray eels and other animals will glide above you. This unusual perspective allows you to observe them from remarkably close range.
The visit also includes modern multimedia and interactive spaces. One of them is the digital floor near the entrance, while in the Journey to the Depths zone, specially designed effects offer a closer look at life in the ocean depths.
There are also additional attractions designed with younger visitors in mind. In the Aqua Protectors area, children can create their own digital fish and then watch it appear on screen. The mangrove zone features games and sensory installations that explain in an accessible way how these unique natural environments function.
The aquarium also runs educational programmes, offers interactive exhibits and supports environmental conservation initiatives. Their aim is to raise awareness of the threats facing seas and oceans and the importance of protecting the species that live in them.
