Program Description
Whitewashed houses adorned with flowers, squares tucked away among winding streets and luxury yachts gently rocking in the marina - Costa del Sol is full of surprises and contrasts. On this day trip from Málaga to Mijas, Marbella and Puerto Banús, you'll discover places where Andalusian traditions meet the elegance of one of Spain's most famous coastlines. It's the perfect opportunity to swap a day on the beach for exploring charming towns and discovering their history.
Your first stop will be Mijas, one of Andalusia's characteristic pueblos blancos, or white villages. Perched on a mountainside, it charms visitors with its winding streets, whitewashed façades and views of the coastline. Among its most recognisable features are the traditional donkey taxis, a reminder of the village's long-standing customs, and its distinctive oval-shaped bullring. Another notable landmark is the Virgen de la Peña Chapel, carved into the rock and closely linked to local traditions.
Mijas also preserves fascinating traces of its past, including the remains of ancient Moorish walls. The surrounding gardens offer a picturesque setting with panoramic views across Costa del Sol. Above the village, you can also spot the Calvario Hermitage, situated on the mountainside and visible from the streets below.
From hillside Mijas, you'll continue to Marbella, a town with much more to offer than its reputation as a luxury resort might suggest. Hidden in its heart is a historic old town filled with narrow streets, small squares and centuries-old buildings. Its best-known landmark is Plaza de los Naranjos, or Orange Square, where citrus trees, café terraces and historic architecture create an atmosphere of traditional Andalusia. Nearby, you'll also find remains of the old city walls, the Church of Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación and the Chapel of San Juan de Dios.
Finally, you'll enter a completely different world in Puerto Banús, an exclusive marina that opened in 1970. One of Costa del Sol's most recognisable destinations, it is famous for its luxury yachts, designer boutiques and sophisticated waterfront atmosphere. During your free time, you can stroll along the marina, admire the impressive boats and take in the lively surroundings of this prestigious coastal destination.
From the hillside streets of Mijas and the historic heart of Marbella to the elegant waterfront of Puerto Banús, each destination reveals a different side of Costa del Sol. It's a chance to see this famous coastline from a fresh perspective and discover what lies beyond its beaches.
